Dan Drake
Dan Drake has been teaching guitar at Roxy since 1992. He has been playing guitar since 1989 and also plays piano. Dan studied piano, saxophone, and guitar with an instructor from the Chicago Conservatory. He has experience playing guitar at churches, weddings, bands and other accompaniments. He has played with the Agape Christian Church Worship band since 1998 and now leads worship at the Agape EPIC service. He has also led worship for 7 years with TREAD youth group leading an all youth band.
Jeff Topp
Jeff has been playing guitar and Bass since he was Ten. He studied music theory independently since 1998 and continues to strive for more knowledge to pass on. Jeff has played professionally since he was 15. Jeff is great with children and teaches as young as 7 years old. He is currently a member of the band "To All Nations" and also plays bass and guitar on the worship team at New Creation Vineyard.
Arlo Bonham Arlo Bonham has been teaching guitar, bass guitar and piano since 1987, and at Roxy Music since 2000. He majored in theory and composition with minors in guitar performance and music education at Prairie State College and Southern Illinois University. Classically trained, he also teaches blues, classic rock, country, jazz/rock/fusion and the styles of Hendrix and Santana.
Trudie Davis Trudie Davis is a life-long music teacher with 30 years experience teaching piano and voice. She graduated from Ball State University, with a M.A. and B.S. in music education. Trudie taught piano, voice, band, choir, and various other instruments within several school districts during the lifetime of her career. In addition to her music education, she has played the piano and organ during church services, sung with choirs and performed solos. Also, she has directed musicals and plays, accompanied students in contests, and has taught Suzuki, Orff, and Kodály methods. While giving lessons, music history and theory will be included. With no age limit to learn or study music, Trudie teaches ages from 5 to 95.
Mike Wood Mike Wood is a life-long musician with 35 years experience playing guitar and bass. His education includes: 2 years private guitar lessons, elementary, junior high and high school band and choir along with several self-taught courses from Musicians Institute. He's played, recorded and collaborated with several cover and original bands/artists over the years and started teaching guitar and bass in January 2010. Mike continues to play a very active role in the LaPorte music community and welcomes students ages 8 through adult.
Ron Nagle
Ron Nagle began his professional career at age 14 and now has 40-plus years of varied musical experiences. He has taught band, chorus, orchestra and K-12 music in Highland, Chesterton, Michigan City and East Chicago schools. Ron currently teaches vocal music at Hammond schools. He studied voice, guitar performance and theory for 4 years at Chicago Conservatory. He graduated from Indiana University School of Music with distinction, and took his Masters degree from VanderCook Musical College in Choral Music and Guitar Performance. Ron performs locally on guitar, piano and violin for parties, wedding and dinner entertainment. Ron offers lessons for voice and most traditional acoustic and electric instruments. Ron has taught students from age 4 ½ to 75 years old.
Susan Rosselli
Susan Rosselli is a piano and voice teacher. She received a Music Education degree with vocal concentration and a Performer’s Certificate in Piano from State University of New York and Fredonia. She received her Master’s degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music in N.Y., and did Doctoral studies in Music and Education from Columbia University in N.Y. She has been teaching piano and voice since 1975, and has worked throughout these years in theater, dance, opera, and choir settings. She is presently Director of Music Ministries, organist, and choir director for an adult choir and two children’s choirs at St. John Lutheran Church in LaPorte. Her original choral and vocal music is published by Emerson Music and Voice of the Rockies Music.
Jesse Scutchfield
Jesse Scutchfield has been playing for over 28 years. He is experienced in many styles of music, and teaches guitar, bass and music theory. Jesse studied music performance and theory at Columbia College in Chicago. He performs locally as a soloist, and with “Junior and the Igniters.”
Joseph E. Tallerico
Joseph Tallerico (JET) attended the Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California, where he studied with Ralph Humphry (Frank Zappa, Don Ellis), Joe Porcaro (L.A. session drummer) and other professional drummers in the Music business. He received his B.M and M.M. degree with high distinction from Indiana University South Bend. He has been playing for 24 years and is the author of, ‘Drumset Solos, Volume I’, a collection of solos for late-high school and college students. JET offers guitar and piano lessons as well as all levels of percussion instruction.
Kim Whicker
Kim Whicker has been teaching beginning through intermediate piano lessons at Roxy Music since 1998 and has been playing herself since the age of six. She studied music theory at LaPorte High School and independently for the last 10 years. She has played keyboards for several local bands. Kim is wonderful with children!
Joan Davis
Joan has been teaching piano and voice in this area to all ages since 1991. She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming in Theater Arts and Music Education. She is currently the musician at First Baptist Church of Kingsford Heights, playing keyboards and directing two choirs, and has also played and sang on an area praise team. Joan loves the challenge of teaching adults,, but working with youth is her favorite, as she takes piano students as young as 6 years old, and voice students as young as 12 years old.
Pam McNeal Laue
Pam McNeal-Laue has an MA in music education from Ball State, with several years of Public School Music teaching experience. She emphasizes music literacy, valuing the importance of good reading and listening skills, along with confident skilled playing during private lessons. She enjoys giving beginning lessons on clarinet, violin and piano. She plays clarinet in the LaPorte County Symphony, as well as Michigan City and LaPorte summer bands. She is also a member of a clarinet trio called “The Licorice Stix”.
Rates are $64.00 for 4 half hour Lessons (except for lessons with Ron Nagle who charges $68.00).
