The Ibanez GSR205B brings the comfortable, player-friendly design of the GSR series to a versatile 5-string bass. Finished in Weathered Black, it combines an okoume body with a maple neck and Jatoba fingerboard for a balanced foundation that's well suited to everything from practice and rehearsal to recording and live playing.
With two passive Dynamix H pickups and Ibanez's Phat II active bass boost, the GSR205B gives players useful tonal flexibility without making the instrument complicated to operate. The additional low-end boost can be especially handy when you want more weight and authority from the bass without changing your overall setup.
The extended range of a 5-string bass adds a low B string for deeper notes and expanded fingering options. That makes the GSR205B a natural choice for players working across rock, metal, pop, worship, R&B, and other styles where extra low-end range can be useful.
The maple neck provides stability and a bright tonal character, while the Jatoba fingerboard contributes a rich midrange with crisp highs. The 34-inch scale and 16.5mm string spacing provide a familiar full-scale bass feel.
The GSR205B is built around a straightforward combination of useful range, comfortable dimensions, and flexible electronics. The two Dynamix H pickups provide a rich, powerful foundation, while the Phat II EQ lets you add additional low-end power when the music calls for it.
For players moving to five strings for the first time, the familiar 34-inch scale keeps the instrument in full-scale bass territory while providing the extra low B string. For experienced five-string players, the GSR205B offers a practical instrument for rehearsals, gigs, lessons, and everyday playing.
