Guitar & Instrument Repair
Whether you’re heading into a tour, prepping for a weekend gig, or pulling a favorite instrument out of storage, your gear deserves expert care. Roxy Music has been Northwest Indiana’s trusted destination for guitar repair, bass repair, and professional instrument setups since 1939.
Located in La Porte, Indiana, we specialize in stringed instrument repairs and are proud to be a Fender Certified Warranty Repair Center. Our tech team includes seasoned musicians and certified techs who treat every instrument like it's their own— because we know what it’s like to rely on your gear night after night.
If you’re also looking for new gear while your instrument is on the bench, you can explore our full showroom online: browse guitars, basses, amps, and pedals.
Note: While we’re happy to perform light amp maintenance—such as tube swaps or checking basic functions—we do not offer deep amp or electronics repairs involving circuit boards, capacitor replacement, or internal wiring rebuilds. For safety and quality, we refer those jobs to dedicated amp techs (ask us for recommendations).

Estimates are provided up front, and turnaround time varies by job. If your student is renting through our school band program partners, we can help you know whether to repair or replace.
Repair Terms & Warranty (Short Version)
- Workmanship Warranty (30 days): Covers the specific work performed; excludes wear, abuse, accidents, climate/humidity changes, shipping damage, or issues unrelated to the approved work.
- Post-Repair Adjustments & Third-Party Changes: Any changes made after pickup by you or a third party—including truss rod, bridge/saddle height, nut slotting, rewiring, pickup swaps, firmware/programming, or parts changes— void our liability for issues that arise afterward. We’re happy to readjust at our standard rates.
- Diagnostics Policy: Quick visual inspection is free. If disassembly is required to diagnose, a $25 bench fee applies and is credited to approved repairs.
- Parts & Special Orders: Parts are not included unless stated. Special-order parts may require a deposit; lead times depend on supplier availability and shipping.
- Finish & Mechanical Risk: Vintage/nitro finishes, brittle plastics, seized hardware, and stressed necks can be fragile; necessary heat, pressure, or removal steps carry inherent risk. Hidden/pre-existing issues that fail during proper procedures are not covered.

Repair FAQs
How long does a full setup take?
Typical turnaround is 2–5 business days; rush options are available (see Surcharge/Priority) depending on current workload and parts availability.
Do you warranty your repairs?
Yes—30 days on workmanship for the specific services performed, as outlined in our repair terms above.
What voids liability after pickup?
Any post-repair adjustments by you or a third party—truss rod, bridge/saddle, nut slotting, wiring/pickups, firmware changes, or parts swaps—can affect our work and void liability for issues that arise afterward.
Is the inspection really free?
Yes. A quick visual inspection and basic recommendation are free. If we need to open the instrument or disassemble components to diagnose the problem, a $25 bench fee applies—and that fee is credited to the approved repair.
Do you take special care with my instrument?
We treat every instrument as if it were our own, and we work hard to make sure every repair is done with excellence. While accidents are rare, they can happen—and we’re human. If something unexpected ever does come up, we’ll communicate clearly and do everything we can to make it right. That’s our promise to you.
Do you offer lessons or help with gear setup after repairs?
Yes. If you’d like coaching on how to care for your instrument or get more out of your setup, ask us about our music lesson program or basic maintenance tips when you pick up your repair.
