Yamaha Guitars do have premium options like FG9 series that cost up to $8000. But, you don't need to spend that much to get a fantastic guitar. The FG800J is $259.99 at the time of writing. This Yamaha Acoustic Guitar has a beautiful tone that should not be allowed at that price point. Over the last year, we have sold 20 of them. 20 guitars may not seem like a lot, but Roxy Music currently has 86 different acoustic models in stock. This is the highest-selling acoustic guitar at Roxy Music.
They also have affordable Acoustic-Electric Options.

These guitars will let you plug into a sound system or an acoustic amp. They also sound great unplugged.
You can also get incredible high end guitars that rival Martin Guitar quality at 1/3 the price. We did a comparison between the Yamaha LL16 and the Martin D18 in this video so you can see.
There are some things that did give the edge to the Yamaha in this video that we should have explained in the video. The LL16 had newer strings which made it sound brighter, and it is a jumbo guitar. This means that the acoustic body is larger, which can make it sound fuller. But, the guitar is still a fantastic guitar that can rival the $2,999 Martin for those on a budget.
Innovative Technology
Yamaha has some of the most innovative Acoustic Guitar technology of the day. One of the most groundbreaking accomplishments was the TransAcoustic Guitars.
The Original TransAcoustic Guitars came out 10 years in 2016. The guitars have built-in sound effects. There are other guitars that have sound effects that work when you plug them in. The unique part is these effects work when you're unplugged. This means you can play with really cool sounds on your couch at home. It comes with Reverb and Chorus. They sound very cool. Plus, the effects still work when you plug in.

The TransAcoustic guitars led to the invention of the Yamaha TAG3. The Yamaha TAG stands for Trans Acoustic Guitar. The 3 means there are 3 onboard effects, delay, reverb and chorus. The delay sounds very nice. It also has a looper built in. They don’t call this an effect because it doesn’t alter the sound. The looper repeats what was played.

The Yamaha A.R.E. treatment is another example of Yamaha’s Innovative Technology. A.R.E. stands for Acoustic Resonance Enhancement. Yamaha noticed that older guitars sound better. Wood takes a long time to settle. Wood that was chopped down recently was not as good. The older the wood was the less likely it was to change due to weather and have a better sound. Yamaha sought to perfect a process to age a wood to create these beautiful sounds in new guitars.
Yamaha outlined the entire process here: Yamaha A.R.E. Treatment.
